Description

It can be a vulnerability that an email gets into an inbox because it is possible for malicious actors to send malicious emails zero-day vulnerabilities for the mailing clients that could compromise the security and privacy of the user. Additionally, phishing emails can be sent to trick the user into providing sensitive information.

Risk

The information leakage from an email can also be a potential vulnerability. If a malicious actor is able to gain access to a zero-day vulnerability. As such, it is important to ensure that all emails are sent and received securely, and that all inboxes are regularly monitored for suspicious activity. The attacker also knows that the email exists.

Solution

It is usually impossible to prevent an email from entering your inbox, so it is important to use an up-to-date spam filter and email software.
